Tyrone Casby is the big chief of the Mohawk Hunters Mardi Gras Indian tribe in Algiers, the West Bank’s only tribe and one of the city’s biggest, with nearly 30 members. For more than three decades, Casby has led the gang, which was started by his uncle, Frank Casby Sr., about 80 years ago. He has also worked his entire life as an educator including his current position as principal of Landry-Walker College and Career Preparatory High School on the West Bank.
